What is Applywise?

ApplyWise is the first online college admissions counseling program that provides college-bound juniors and seniors with the guidance and tools they need to navigate successfully through the college admissions process. For parents, ApplyWise eliminates "the nag factor" by providing a custom view of their student's progress, materials, and upcoming tasks. For students, ApplyWise provides advice, interactive exercises and organizing tools to help create a winning college application. ApplyWise guides them through each step of the college application process to help them get into the college that's right for them.

Who is Applywise for?

ApplyWise is designed for college bound high school juniors and seniors. The best results can be obtained by starting ApplyWise in your junior year and continuing to utilize our methods through your senior year, but the program can be started anytime you are ready to begin your college admission process

How do I sign up for ApplyWise?

To sign up for ApplyWise click here, or call us at 866-55ADMIT. You must have a credit card or debit card to order the service. Either the student or a parent or responsible adult can sign up and pay on the student's behalf.

What does ApplyWise cost?

ApplyWise is a low cost alternative to private counseling services, which can cost thousands of dollars. It is far more personalized than books or online information.
  • There are two ApplyWise Programs. The 6-Pack, with 6 online counseling sessions is $169. The 12-Pack, with 12 online counseling sessions is $299. Click here to compare programs.

What if I need technical help?

What if I need live counseling help?

A 45 minute telephone counseling session is $125. An activity essay review is $75 and a personal statement review is $125. These can be set up at any time by clicking on the Contact an ApplyWise counselor link within the ApplyWise course or contacting us at 866-55ADMIT.

Can I start the Program at any time?

We recommend starting the Program sometime during the second semester of your junior year. However, you can start the Program in the summer, or even early in your senior year.

How long can I access my ApplyWise account?

Your log-in to ApplyWise is valid until the end of June of your senior year.

Why do you have separate student and parent logins?

Parents and students have separate, individual logins to ApplyWise, so that students and their parents each know how they are progressing through the process. Students can let their parents know about their progress at each step, or share their documents and essays. Through this unique set up, students have the ability to control their level of privacy, while still addressing parent concerns about progress. Parents receive their own versions of Dr. Kat's tips, admissions news and podcasts.

How do I set up student and parent logins?

In the registration process, the student or parent who is registering can set up a login for themselves. They are prompted to provide an email address for the other party, who is then emailed and prompted to set up his or her own login.

Can both my parents login?

Currently, if you would like more than one parent or guardian to log-in to their ApplyWise Parent dashboard, they will have to share a user name and password. You will be able to order additional parental log-ins in the future.

How can a school district offer this service to its students?

How can a corporation offer this service to its employees?

If you are interested in offering ApplyWise as a corporate benefit, please contact partner@applywise.com.

How does the money back guarantee work?

If you are not satisfied with the ApplyWise program within thirty(30) days of enrolling, contact ApplyWise via email(support@applywise.com) or phone (866-55ADMIT). We require a detailed explanation of why you are not satisfied. Write Cancel in the subject of the email and include your detailed explanation and your full name and phone number. You will receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please re-contact ApplyWise. Only the credit card holder may request a cancellation. Your payment will be fully refunded plus you will receive an additional 10% of the purchase price. Your login will be deactivated and you will lose the work that you saved in the program. Please allow up to 6 weeks for refunds to be processed.

Do the sessions have to be done in order?

The sessions in ApplyWise are designed to be completed in numerical order. If you begin the ApplyWise Program in fall of your senior year, you will be able to do the first six sessions in any order, but we recommend that you complete the first three sessions before you move on.

Can the online course be accessed from more than one computer, for example a home, work, or library computer?

Yes. You can access the course on any type of computer that meets the minimum system requirements. Also, you may begin the course at one computer and continue the course at another. The database will track you as a user based on your Username and Password.

Why does my system run so slowly when I use this course?

Different computers have different speed processors. Also, depending on your Internet Service Provider, you may be logged onto the Internet during a very busy time.

What is Macromedia Flash Player and why am I required to download it?

When entering the ApplyWise program, there was an automatic system check to see if your computer has a product called Macromedia Flash player. If you did not already have this, you were asked to download it. Installing this software is easy and free. Without this software, you would not be able to view the course.

How can I check my progress while taking the course?

Progress can be checked in two areas. First, the dashboard will track your sessions and mark them as not started, in progress or complete. Second, as you move through a module, a tracking bar at the bottom of the screen will show your progress. You can view your progress in the individual session by viewing the tracking bar at the bottom of the screen.
